Twelve Students receive Summer Music Camp Scholarships
Congratulations to Karime, Emelie, Leilani, Sofia, Liliana, Sofia, Evelyn, Josiah, Miriya, Fox and Alanna for earning a full tuition scholarship to summer music camp at Wildwood Music Camp and Arrowbear Music Camp. Congratulations to the following four JWMS Bighorns for being awarded a $500 scholarship each for private lesson instruction: Aiden Anderson (French horn), Dyln Caldwell (trumpet), Daniella Chaclan (trumpet), and Ivan Nunez (trumpet). 2018 King Karl King Honor Band Members
Seven students from the JWMS Wind Ensemble auditioned and made it into this year's King Honor Band at Riverside Community College (RCC). Ms. Dean-Knapp was the guest conductor this year for the honor band and got to conduct "The Great Locomotive Chase" by Robert Smith and "Aggressivo" by Randall Standridge.

JWMS Band Students Make the School Spelling Bee 2018
A huge congratulations to our semi-finalists in this year's spelling bee at JWMS (all in band or strings class). Congrats: Riczan A, Sean A, Aden B, Jude C, Amairany D, Aimee F, Hector G, Mason G, Jeslyn M, Arianna S, Anyssa T, and Reynaldo T. This year's finalist was Aden B (beginning band student). He not only competed in the school's spelling bee, but also went on to the district and county level spelling bee. Way to go Aden! :)

JWMS student attends Arrowbear Music Camp 2017
A huge congrats to Michelle for taking the leap and attending the Arrowbear Music Camp this summer in Arrowbear, CA. Michelle spent two weeks learning six band pieces at camp, chamber music and getting to know her fellow campers. The best part is she escaped the desert heat for two weeks! :) We are proud of you Michelle for attending camp this year.

SCSBOA Middle School Honor Band 2016
This year we sent two young ladies to audition for the SCSBOA Middle School Honor Band. Melody Chaclan auditioned on Alto Saxophone and April Aldana auditioned on Bass Clarinet. Both ladies did very well at their audtion and we are proud to announce that April Aldana will be performing with the group on January 22, 2017 at JF Kennedy High School in La Palma, CA. Congratulations!

JWMS Band Students Attend Idyllwild Arts Music Camp - July 2015

year's Idyllwild Arts Summer Music Camp. All the students will attend the Idyllwild Arts camp this summer in Idyllwild. We are so
proud of these young ladies and gentlemen for taking the initiative to learn a solo
in November, perform their solo for solo/ensemble festival in February
(at RCMS) and then audition in April via CD. All students had to record a
flat scale and a sharp scale of their choice on the CD, plus their
chromatic scale. In addition they had to record a solo of their
choosing. We would like to thank the Palm Springs Friends of the Philharmonic and the Idyllwild Arts Summer Academy for our scholarships and this amazing opportunity.

Idyllwild Arts Summer Music Academy Students (July 2015)
A huge thank you to the Palm Springs Friends of the Philharmonic and Idyllwild Arts Academy for the full tuition scholarships that made it possible for these twelve talented students to attend summer music camp. King Karl King Honor Band Members - May 2015
A huge congratulations goes to Edgar Levya (French horn), Natalia Medina (French horn), Ruby Parry (Tenor Saxophone), and Lily Velasquez (French horn) on being admitted and performing with this year's King Karl King Honor Band at Riverside Community College. We had around ten students audition for the honor band and four of our students were admitted. Students had to learn six scales, as well as a solo to perform for their audition. The concert was held on May 17, 2015 at Riverside Community College.

Meet Trinity Reyes! She is currently a 7th grader in concert band and plays baritone saxophone. Last year as a 6th grader she not only learned the alto saxophone in beginning band, but also took private lessons with our guitar instructor, Tyler Pendelton after school. Next year Trinity will be playing baritone saxophone in our wind ensemble.

JWMS Band Students Attend Idyllwild Arts Music Camp - July 2014
A huge congratulations go to Jean Castro (Percussion) and Ericka Aldana (Baritone Saxophone) on receiving full tuition scholarships to this year's Idyllwild Arts Summer Music Camp. Both students performed very well at the camp and performed at two concerts during the camp. Idyllwild Arts Summer Music Program Students (2013)
Congratulations to eight of our JWMS students who recently attended Idyllwild Arts Music Academy. Although the summer program was cut a little short due to the massive wildfire near Idyllwild, our students had a great time. So proud of you Palmer, Alejandro, Arturo, Andrew, Tessa, Justin, Viviana and Danielle.
King Karl King Honor Band Students (2013)
Congratulations to the following students on being accepted into the 2013 King Karl King Honor Band at Riverside Community College (RCC). The students had an opportunity to work with Conductor Kevin Mayse, the conductor of the RCC Wind Ensemble and Dr. Sam Andres, the director of bands at Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga. Congrats Danielle Guilmette (flute), Alejandra Landeros (clarinet), Arturo Perez-Hunt (flute), Viviana Martinez (alto saxophone), Ryan Cotton (French horn), Angel Garcia (trumpet), Frida Avila (euphonium), Jean Castro (percussion) and Anthony Castellon (alto saxophone).
2013 SCSBOA Honor Band and 2013 CBDA Honor Band StudentsCongratulations to Danielle Guilmette and Arturo Perez-Hunt on their acceptance in the SCSBOA (Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association) Junior High School Honor Band. Danielle recently performed with the group on Piccolo and Arturo recently performed with the group on Flute. Both students competed with hundreds of applicants from all over southern California for their spot in this honor band group. Their concert was held on January 20th, 2013 at JFK High School in La Palma, CA. Both students attended a live audition in southern California where they performed a prepared solo, prepared scales and were asked to sight-read a piece of music they had never seen before.
Another congratulations goes to Arturo Perez-Hunt and Danielle Guilmette on their acceptance into the CBDA (California Band Director's Association) Junior High Honor Bands. Arturo will be playing Flute with the Concert Band on February 23rd, 2013 and Danielle will be playing Piccolo with the Wind Ensemble on February 23rd, 2013 in Fresno, CA. Both students competed against hundreds of applicants from all over the state of California for their spot in this year's honor band groups. Both students submitted a CD recording of themselves performing the required solo and some scales. JWMS 12 in 1 Club Members (2013) The 12 in 1 Club consists of students from JWMS who can play all 12 Major Scales in under 1 minute! Forty nine students earned a spot in the 12 in 1 Club in 2013. Congrats to the following students. The 2014 12 in 1 Club will begin in January 2014. Students, start practicing those scales! Wildwood Music Camp (2012)

Vivian competed for the JWMS talent show and also auditioned for the Open Call Competition at the McCallum Theatre. Vivian was chosen as a semi-finalist for her performance of this song. We are so proud of her. She has an amazing voice!
